Professor Soga Sofola BSc, MSc, MB.BS.(Lagos), PhD (Leeds), FAS is Emeritus Professor of Physiology at the University of Lagos.

He was educated at the College of Medicine, University of Lagos as well as the Department of Cardiovascular Studies, University of Leeds, UK, where he was also Registrar in Cardiology at the Leeds General Infirmary.

He has had a long teaching and professional career at the College of Medicine, University of Lagos, from 1973. He was at various times the Provost of the College of Medicine (1993-96) as well as Board member of Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LUTH). He was Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academic and Research), University of Lagos (2003-07) and was at one time the Acting Vice Chancellor of Olabisi Onabanjo (formerly Ogun State) University (2010 to 2011). He was British Heart Foundation Fellow at the Cardiovascular Research Institute, University of Leeds, UK from 1998 to 2000, Professor at UAE University, Al Ain, Abu Dhabi (199091) and also Visiting Professor at the Centre for Cardiovascular Diseases, Texas Southern University, Houston, TX, USA (2000- 02).

Prof Sofola is a Fellow of the Nigerian Academy of Science (FAS), Fellow Physiological Society of UK, Fellow, Physiological Society of Nigeria and Fellow, Nigerian Academy of Medicine.

He is currently President of the African Association of Physiological Sciences as well as Member of Council of the International Union of Physiological sciences (IUPS).
